Thursday’s lone game was a nail-biter, full of suspense and drama.
Even with just one match, the Wild Card Series kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
Saturday promises four games, possibly the last time we’ll see such a lineup in 2024.
Guardians vs. Tigers
The Guardians and Tigers face off at 1:08 p.m. ET with Tyler Holton pitching against Tanner Bibee. The season series was tight, with the Guardians winning seven out of thirteen games, though the Tigers scored more overall. But remember, Cleveland was strong at home with a 50-30 record.
This matchup is unpredictable; anything can happen! The Guardians have an excellent bullpen ready to go after their bye, while Bibee can be tough to score against. The Tigers will try to pull off another surprise like they did in Houston.
The play: First five innings under 3.5 total runs (+100). Expect low scoring early on; it might heat up later.
Phillies vs. Mets
At 4:08 p.m., Kodai Senga will take on Zack Wheeler as the Phillies host the Mets. Philly had a better regular season but struggled post-All-Star break while New York surged after June 2nd.
Fans might wonder if momentum will carry the Mets through this challenge or if it’s just wishful thinking.
The play: Zack Wheeler under 1.5 earned runs allowed (-105). The Mets’ bats were quiet late in their previous series, and Wheeler has been dominant at home with a 2.31 ERA.
Yankees vs. Royals
Michael Wacha faces Gerrit Cole at 6:38 p.m., as Kansas City visits New York. Despite being fun to watch, the Royals are up against it since they lost five out of seven games to the Yankees this year and were only slightly above average on the road.
The plays: Juan Soto over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-120); Aaron Judge over 1.5 H+R+RBI (-145). These stars are key for New York’s offense—expect them to shine early!
Dodgers vs Padres
Dylan Cease goes head-to-head with Yoshinobu Yamamoto at 8:38 p.m., as San Diego travels to Los Angeles for what could be an electrifying game! Both teams have been playing exceptionally well recently, making this anyone’s game!
The play: Padres +114 because when it’s too close to call, why not go for some extra cash? The Padres have handled Yamamoto before and appear confident offensively right now.
Shohei Ohtani is also worth watching—he’s almost guaranteed to make an impact given his recent form and position in front of Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman!
