The Yankees are bringing Jazz Chisholm Jr. back to the lineup on Friday night.
Jazz Chisholm, who was traded from the Marlins for three minor-league prospects, returns after being on the injured list. Before his injury, he had a great run with a .316/.361/.702 slash line, seven home runs, 11 RBIs, and five stolen bases in just 14 games. The Yankees sent Oswald Peraza to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to make room for him.
Chisholm hasn’t played since August 12 due to an elbow injury. He mainly played third base for New York but also has experience in center field from his time with the Marlins. This season, he’s hitting .257/.328/.445 with 20 home runs and 27 stolen bases—quite impressive! His value is estimated at 2 Wins Above Replacement according to Baseball Reference .
Peraza struggled in his brief stint with the Yankees, going just 2-for-11 in four games. Once a top prospect, he hasn’t found his footing yet at this level.
Yankees vs Orioles:
The Yankees hold a narrow lead over the Orioles in the AL East with a record of 75-53. Their lead is only 1.5 games as both teams have been closely matched since late July. While New York faces off against the struggling Rockies this weekend, Baltimore continues its series against the Astros—a potential preview of the AL Championship Series.
Fans might think this news makes their playoff chances even better!
With Chisholm back and ready to contribute again, how do you think this will impact their performance?
