On a chilly evening in New York, the Yankees managed to keep their World Series hopes alive. The team pulled off an impressive win against the Dodgers with a score of 11-4, thanks largely to the efforts of their lower lineup players.
The game started with Freddie Freeman hitting yet another homer for the Dodgers, giving them an early lead. But by the third inning, Anthony Volpe changed everything with a grand slam that flipped the score from 2-1 in favor of Los Angeles to 5-2 for New York.
Volpe’s big hit came after Daniel Hudson loaded the bases with some messy pitching. A hit-by-pitch on Aaron Judge, a long single by Jazz Chisholm Jr., and a walk to Giancarlo Stanton set up Volpe’s moment of glory. “I think I pretty much blacked out as soon as I saw it go over the fence,” Volpe confessed about his grand slam. Everyone in the lineup believed someone would eventually get that crucial hit.

Three innings later, Austin Wells added another run with his second playoff home run. Despite struggling earlier in October, he seemed unstoppable during this game—doubling and walking to help fuel a five-run eighth inning surge. Fans might think this is exactly what they needed from these young players.
While Aaron Judge has been under scrutiny for not performing well at bat, it’s clear he’s not alone in his struggles; however, Juan Soto and Stanton have been consistently strong throughout postseason play.
To force Game 5 against such formidable opponents like LA requires more than just star power; contributions from unexpected places are essential too! And so it was: Volpe at No.7 hitting that grand slam while Wells shined brightly alongside Alex Verdugo who also drove home two runs himself!
Anthony Volpe and Austin Wells combined tonight:
4-for-6, 5 R, 2 2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 2 BB, 3 SB
They are the first pair of teammates in World Series history each with a HR and SB in the same game

Before those late-inning fireworks lit up Yankee Stadium skies though—the top four hitters were eerily silent going just one-for-seventeen combined until then! It took gutsy performances down near bottom order positions where heroes emerged unexpectedly when needed most according Manager Boone himself saying “Volpe delivered huge blow” among others stepping up admirably too.
Both teams had struggled getting much production outta their bottom orders coming into series but finally something clicked here tonight especially after seeing how Freeman carried Dodgers almost single-handedly through first three games alone!
Yankees still need Judge firing on all cylinders if they want any chance turning tables completely around because despite reaching base thrice already during last night’s matchup—it’s gonna take lot more than just him alone moving forward now…
What do you think? Can they keep this momentum going or will Dodgers close things out next time?
