Willie Mays Dies at 93; Mahomes Tops Prisco’s 100

Willie Mays, a baseball legend, passed away at 93. He was known as the "Say Hey Kid" and was a 24-time MLB All-Star.

Mays started with the Birmingham Black Barons before joining the Giants in 1950. His career paused for the Korean War but resumed in 1954 when he won NL MVP and led the Giants to a World Series win .

Willie Mays’ Legacy

Mays’ career stats are impressive:

  • 3,292 hits (13th all-time)
  • 660 home runs (6th all-time)
  • 1,909 RBI (12th all-time)
  • 6,080 total bases (4th all-time)
  • 2,068 runs scored (7th all-time)
  • 156.2 WAR (5th all-time)

MLB planned to honor Mays during a game at Rickwood Field but will now commemorate his life due to his health issues. Rob Manfred called it an opportunity to celebrate a true hero.

Morning Highlights: Connor McDavid Shines

Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers are thrilled after beating the Panthers 5–3 in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. McDavid had two goals and two assists.

Fans might think this is one of McDavid’s best performances ever!

McDavid broke Wayne Gretzky’s record for most assists in one postseason and is close to another record with his current total of 42 points.

Tough Morning for Cameron Brink

Cameron Brink from Los Angeles Sparks hurt her knee during their game against Sun after an awkward fall while driving to the rim against Brionna Jones.

Brink left early in pain but managed to limp off with help from teammates; she didn’t return, leading Sparks losing to Sun by 79–70.

Coach Curt Miller said Brink would be evaluated further today: "We’re praying for Cam."

Brink’s injury affects not only her WNBA season but also her spot on Team USA’s roster for Paris Olympics next year link.

Pete Prisco has released his top NFL players list for this year—Patrick Mahomes remains number one! Despite lower numbers last season compared to previous years, Mahomes proved himself once again by winning another Super Bowl!

Prisco suggests if Mahomes wins another Super Bowl this year; he could be considered greatest ever: "Is it time say he’s best ever?"
