The Chicago White Sox are set to play in a stadium with a new name starting in 2025. The team announced that Guaranteed Rate Field will be renamed to Rate Field, following the sponsor’s decision to shorten its name by dropping “Guaranteed.”

“Rate has long been a valued naming rights partner, sharing the White Sox passion for the Chicago community and sports fans near and far,” said Brooks Boyer. “Like the White Sox, Rate is rooted in Chicago and committed to providing elite service to its customers. We look forward to welcoming fans to Rate Field to enjoy our ballpark experience, creating lasting memories for fans for years to come.”
Stadium Name Changes Over Time:
Since opening in 1991, this stadium has had several names. It started as Comiskey Park II from 1991-2003, then became US Cellular Field from 2003-16. From 2017-24 it was known as Guaranteed Rate Field, and now it’s becoming Rate Field starting in 2025. The naming rights agreement with Rate will last until the ballpark’s lease ends after the 2029 season.
Despite this fresh name change, things aren’t looking up for the team itself . In 2024, they set an unfortunate record by losing 121 games and traded away Garrett Crochet, their star player, to Boston Red Sox just last week. Fans might wonder if there’s any hope left during this rebuild.
The only certainty about the future of the White Sox seems like more losses on their horizon as they navigate through these challenging times.
