Fan Grabs Mike Trout’s Glove During Game, Gets Ejected
Remember that wild moment in the World Series when Yankees fans tried to stop Mookie Betts from catching a foul ball by grabbing his glove? Well, it just happened again—this time to Mike Trout.
The Angels superstar was about to make a leaping catch on a foul ball when a fan in Houston reached out and grabbed his glove.
Not only did the fan grab Trout’s glove, he actually took the ball out of it.
The fan seemed to instantly regret what he’d done, appearing to apologize right away. But the damage was done.
Stadium security quickly stepped in and ejected the fan from the ballpark. After officials reviewed the interference on replay, they awarded Trout and the Angels the out.
It’s pretty simple—fans can go after foul balls and home runs all they want, but grabbing a player or their equipment is completely off-limits. Even in the excitement of the moment, that’s just not something you should do.
The foul ball came off the bat of Astros catcher Yainer Diaz, with Trout positioning himself perfectly for the catch before the interference.
This wasn’t quite as outrageous as the Yankee Stadium incident, but it’s definitely in the same ballpark (no pun intended).
The good news? This story has a happy ending.
After the game, Trout met with the fan and his young son. Everyone seemed to patch things up, with smiles all around as they chatted and took photos together.
It’s a reminder that even when fans cross the line, there’s usually room for forgiveness—especially when baseball’s nice-guy superstar is involved.
