Minnesota Twins’ José Miranda made history with a 12-hit streak, tying an MLB record.
On Saturday, Miranda’s streak ended in the sixth inning when he hit a fly ball to Chas McCormick. Before that, he had been on fire, even getting hit by a pitch from Hunter Brown earlier in the game.
Miranda’s streak now ties him with Walt Dropo (1952), Pinky Higgins (1938), and Johnny Kling (1902) for the most consecutive at-bats with a hit. He is also the only player in the Expansion Era to reach 12 straight hits, surpassing Dustin Pedroia and Bernie Williams who both reached 11.
Record-Breaking Performance
On Friday, as DH, Miranda went 4-for-4 with a double and home run. Thursday saw him go 5-for-5, and he got hits in his last at-bat on Wednesday too! In doing so, he broke the Twins’ record for consecutive hits previously held by Tony Oliva (1967), Mickey Hatcher (1985), and Todd Walker (1998).

He now has a hit in TEN consecutive at-bats!
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli subbed out Miranda for Austin Martin later when they were down by eight runs. They almost caught up but fell short by one run when it ended.
"Those guys play every day and do well," Baldelli said afterward. "In an eight-run game, they’ve been on their feet long enough."
Fans might think this was an exciting week for baseball!
Miranda has been amazing this season. In 71 games, he’s batted .324/.364/.529 with nine homers and many extra-base hits. His OPS jumped from .822 to .901 just over three games!
