Los Angeles Dodgers’ Tommy Edman snagged the MVP title for the 2024 National League Championship Series.
On Sunday night, Edman’s stellar performance helped the Dodgers knock out the New York Mets in Game 6 at Dodger Stadium, paving their way to a World Series showdown with the New York Yankees. During this crucial game, Edman smashed two hits, including a two-run homer in the third inning.

Throughout the series, Edman showcased impressive stats: a .407 batting average, .393 on-base percentage, and .630 slugging percentage. He also hit one home run and three doubles while stealing a base. Remarkably, he equaled a Dodgers NLCS record by driving in 11 runs. Initially playing center field against the Padres due to Miguel Rojas’s injury, he switched to shortstop for this series. Interestingly enough, he started batting ninth but ended up as cleanup hitter in Game 6.
Edman’s Journey:
The Dodgers picked up Edman before this year’s trade deadline through a deal involving the White Sox and Cardinals—his only teams until now. This decision proved wise as his contributions were pivotal for L.A.’s success. Fans might think this trade was genius!
Here’s an interesting tidbit: players who won LCS MVP after being traded mid-season include Eddie Rosario (Braves) in 2021 and Justin Verlander (Astros) in 2017.
And I was just perusing this list of players to win LCS MVP after playing on another team in the same year:
2021 Eddie Rosario Braves
2017 Justin Verlander Astros
2016 Andrew Miller Indians
2012 Marco Scutaro Giants
2010 Cody Ross Giants

Edman is now part of an elite group of Dodgers who’ve claimed NLCS MVP honors recently—Corey Seager did it back in 2020; Cody Bellinger took home the award in 2018; and Justin Turner along with Chris Taylor shared it back in 2017.
What do you think about Edman’s incredible journey?
