Kyle Schwarber has a knack for hitting home runs in June, and he proved it again on Monday night.
He hit two homers and drove in four runs, helping the Phillies beat the Padres 9-2. This performance put Schwarber in the record books as the fastest player to reach 60 home runs in June, doing so in just 172 games. The previous record was held by Mike Piazza, who took 191 games.
Schwarber’s achievement is also notable because it’s the second quickest to reach 60 homers for any month ever, only behind Juan Gonzalez’s August record of 167 games.
