The Phillies announced on Friday that two key players are injured.
Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber both hurt their lower bodies during Thursday’s game against the Marlins, which they lost 7-4. Harper’s hamstring locked up as he ran to first base, while Schwarber felt groin pain making a throw in the outfield. Both had scans on Friday confirming strains.
To fill the gaps, the Phillies brought back Kody Clemens from rehab and called up Johan Rojas from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Harper was hitting .303 with 20 home runs before his injury, contributing significantly to the team’s success this season. It’s uncertain if he will play in the All-Star Game on July 16.
“If I had something to go back on, I would let you know,” Harper said about his injury after the game. “But I’ve never felt anything like this before.” Schwarber also had impressive stats with a .250 average and 17 home runs but is now sidelined too.
Impact of Injuries:
The Phillies are currently 53-28 but now face more challenges without some of their best players. They continue their series against the Marlins without not just Harper and Schwarber but also J.T. Realmuto, Taijuan Walker, and Spencer Turnbull.
Fans might worry about how these injuries will affect upcoming games and whether new players can step up to fill big shoes.
What do you think? Will these changes impact their performance?
