The Baltimore Orioles sent Trevor Rogers to Triple-A on Thursday.
Rogers, who joined the team from the Miami Marlins before the July 30 trade deadline, struggled in his four starts for Baltimore. He had a 7.11 ERA and a 5.01 FIP with 12 strikeouts and 10 walks over 19 innings. Before the trade, he had an ERA+ of 99 in 15 starts with Miami.
This move comes just two days after Zach Eflin was placed on the injured list due to shoulder inflammation . Eflin, acquired from Tampa Bay at the same deadline, had been performing exceptionally with a 2.13 ERA and an impressive strikeout-to-walk ratio of 12.50 in four starts for Baltimore.
Roster Changes and Struggles:
In addition to these issues, Gregory Soto has allowed eight runs in just under five innings since being traded from Philadelphia in July. Seranthony DomÃnguez, also acquired from the Phillies last month and now serving as the primary closer, has given up four home runs in just eleven innings and has already recorded two losses.
Fans might be wondering if these moves will hurt their playoff chances.
As of Thursday’s games, Baltimore trails New York by only half a game in the AL East standings. While they’re almost certain to make it to postseason for a second year straight, winning the division is crucial for getting a first-round bye past the wild-card round.
