Ohtani’s Dog Decoy Delivers First Pitch

Wednesday night was all about Shohei Ohtani and his dog, Decoy.

The Dodgers gave out Ohtani bobbleheads to the first 40,000 fans at the game. Before it began, Decoy had a special moment on the field.

Ohtani told Decoy to stay at the mound and placed a ball in front of him. Once Ohtani got ready behind home plate, Decoy picked up the ball and dropped it there. “I think I was more nervous for the ceremonial pitch than Decoy,” Ohtani said after the game. “I’m glad that everything went well.”

Game Highlights:

Thousands of fans came early to get one of those special bobbleheads. Maybe having Decoy there gave Ohtani some extra energy because he started off with a solo home run against Corbin Burnes from the Orioles. He finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored in their 6-4 win.

Fans might think this is one of those unforgettable nights in baseball history.

Ohtani’s season is already historic as he aims to be the first player ever in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season. After Wednesday’s game, he’s got 42 home runs and 42 stolen bases so far.
