Offseason Trade Candidates Not Moved at Deadline

The MLB trade deadline has come and gone, wrapping up the summer’s frenzy.

Instead of reflecting on the past week, let’s jump ahead to winter and see what trades might happen. If you love trade rumors, this is for you. For everyone else, think of it as a gentle way to keep up without diving too deep.

Here are 10 players who might be in trade talks this offseason:

1. Garrett Crochet, LHP, White Sox

Crochet’s demands for an extension if he pitches in the postseason may not matter much soon. If he stays healthy, he’ll enter the offseason with a full year of starting experience. Left-handed pitchers like him are always in demand. Plus, the White Sox have no reason to keep him into 2025.

2. Luis Robert Jr., CF, White Sox

Robert has had a strange season with his lowest OPS+ since his rookie year and too many strikeouts (36% of plate appearances). He could boost his trade value by making more contact and playing over 100 games for only the second time in his career. The White Sox can hold onto him until next year’s deadline if needed.

3. Yandy Díaz, 1B, Rays

Díaz is almost 33 and nearing the end of his contract’s guaranteed years. With Tampa Bay retooling , he’s likely to be traded this winter despite having a down season by his standards. Some teams will still value his ability to make contact and get on base.

Fans might wonder why some players weren’t moved earlier.

4. Brandon Lowe, 2B, Rays

Lowe is great when he’s healthy but often isn’t. If he plays over 100 games (he needs 41 more), it would be just the third time in his career he’s done so. His contract includes options for $10.5 million next year and $11.5 million in 2026; another team might pick those up instead of Tampa Bay.

5. Jesus Lúzardo, LHP, Marlins

Lúzardo was expected to move before suffering an injury in June but still has youth (turning 27) and control through 2026 on his side . Miami’s baseball boss Peter Bendix seems ready to trade anyone as he reshapes the team into “Rays South.”

6. Sandy Alcantara, RHP, Marlins

Alcantara hasn’t pitched since Tommy John surgery last fall but should be ready by Opening Day 2025 . Teams will watch his rehab closely because he was one of baseball’s best pitchers before getting hurt . He’s owed $34 million over two years with a club option for $21 million in 2027.

7. Taylor Ward, OF, Angels

It was surprising that Ward wasn’t traded at the deadline . He turns 31 soon and is unlikely to improve much beyond being a solid platoon outfielder . He’s under team control through 2026 so there’s plenty of time for a deal.

8.Luis Rengifo , 2B , Angels

Rengifo had been popping up frequently in rumors before staying put . He’s having his best season yet but hits free agency after next year . Unless extended by Angels , expect him moving .

9.Cal Quantrill,RHP , Rockies
Rockies’ inactivity leaves us guessing whether it’s from lack interest others or themselves Adding Quantrill last winter watching reestablish legitimate starter good business They should’ve cashed out recouping prospects instead keeping interesting

< h >10.Ryan McMahon ,3B , Rockies
Rockies insisted not trading McMahon despite career-best season owing$44million next three years Will they change minds offseason? Probably not Other teams monitor seeking help though

What do you think about these possible trades?
