The helmets in the 2024 MLB playoffs will look different.
For the first time, ads will be on every team’s helmet, announced MLB on Friday. Strauss, a German apparel company, is the sponsor.
Ads measuring 5×0.92 inches with “STRAUSS” and their logo (a white ostrich over a red square) will be placed on both sides of each player’s helmet during the 2024 postseason and World Series. This means viewers will see them no matter which side the player bats from.
Major League Baseball teams will wear the Strauss ostrich logo on all team batting helmets during Postseason, World Series, European, and MiLB games starting this fall through 2027 #MLB

New Sponsorship Deal:
This sponsorship between MLB and Strauss lasts until 2027. The logo won’t just be in playoff games but also in regular-season games in Europe . Minor League Baseball helmets will also feature these ads for both regular-season and postseason games until 2027.
“We are proud that STRAUSS selected Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball as the marketing platform to introduce its brand to the U.S. market,” said Noah Garden, MLB Deputy Commissioner of Business & Media. He added that both organizations share values like legacy and teamwork.
Fans might think this change is a big deal for baseball’s future.
Since early 2023, teams have been allowed to put ads on jerseys due to an agreement made in the 2022 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Currently, out of all teams, only seven don’t have advertising patches yet.
MLB teams have used helmet ads before but only during international games like the Seoul Series (Dodgers vs. Padres) or London Series (Phillies vs. Mets). Those logos were smaller and only appeared on one side of batters’ helmets.
“We are proud to be the first brand featured on MLB batting helmets in the U.S.” said Henning Strauss, CEO of Strauss. “We are excited to join baseball tradition and help it grow back home in Europe.”
What do you think about these new ads?
