The MLB playoffs are in full swing, and the Brewers have ensured we still have baseball to watch by forcing a Game 3.
I was hoping for a Mets win, but they couldn’t close it out, leaving me with a 3-1 record for the day instead of a perfect score. Still, not bad at all!
Let’s keep the momentum going!
Game Preview: Mets vs. Brewers
Tonight’s game features José Quintana pitching for the Mets against Tobias Myers for the Brewers. The Mets had an impressive start in Game 1 of their Wild Card Series and even led early in Game 2. However, they couldn’t hold on as the Brewers rallied late to tie up the series with a three-run eighth inning.
Now, let’s dive into some pitching details since this is our only game today. Myers has had an outstanding rookie season but hasn’t pitched deep into games recently. He faced the Mets just last Saturday and allowed only one hit over four innings without giving up any runs. Will this familiarity help or hinder him? Hard to say.
Fans might think it’s anyone’s game tonight given how unpredictable these playoffs can be.
In terms of relief pitchers, Joel Payamps and Aaron Ashby haven’t been at their best lately, while Trevor Megill and Devin Williams shone brightly in Game 2 for Milwaukee. If needed desperately, Williams could potentially pitch two innings despite not doing so all season.
On the other hand, Quintana has had similar rest as Myers but gave up two runs over four-plus innings last time out while striking out nine batters. The quick turnaround could mean trouble if he can’t adjust quickly enough against Milwaukee’s offense again.
The play: I’m leaning towards picking the Brewers at -130 odds here because it feels like they have momentum on their side after that comeback win in Game 2. I initially thought they’d take this series in three games anyway!
I’ve also got another prediction: Jackson Chourio will go over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-130). With Christian Yelich sidelined due to injury earlier this year (and replaced by Chourio), things looked bleak until Chourio stepped up big-time during his first playoff experience—hitting .310/.363/.552 post-All-Star break with multiple homers already under his belt!
Chourio has been fantastic so far—four hits across two playoff games—and now leads off for Milwaukee’s lineup tonight where he can easily rack up stats through singles or steals…or maybe even another home run! Just avoid walks that leave him stranded; swing away young star!
What do you think? Can Chourio keep shining bright?
