Mets Christian Scott Elbow Surgery

Christian Scott of the New York Mets will have elbow surgery next week.

Scott, 25, has been out since July 21. In nine starts this season, he had a 4.56 ERA and a 3.25 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The Mets listed him on the injured list on July 23 with a UCL strain.

“It’s too early to tell,” said Carlos Mendoza about Scott needing surgery. “We need all the facts first before making any decisions.”

Team Injuries and Updates:

Scott’s elbow issues go back to last season when he missed over two weeks late in the year. Besides Scott, the Mets are also missing Kodai Senga and Paul Blackburn. Blackburn was recently shut down due to a spinal fluid leak in his back.

The Mets currently have an 83-68 record, tying them with the Arizona Diamondbacks for the National League’s second wild-card spot. They are also two games ahead of the Atlanta Braves, who they will face in a crucial three-game series next week in Atlanta.

Fans might think this news is tough for the team’s playoff hopes.
