Judge’s homer count is now at 31, leading the majors by a wide margin. Shohei Ohtani and Gunnar Henderson are tied for second with 26 each. This puts Judge halfway to his own AL record of 62 homers set in 2022.
Judge’s Current Pace:
Comparing this season to his record-setting year in 2022 shows an interesting trend. By game number, Judge has played in 83 out of the Yankees’ first 85 games and is on track for about 58 homers if he keeps this pace. In contrast, he didn’t hit his 31st homer in the previous record year until July 14th. Fans might be getting excited about him breaking his own record.
Judge has been speeding up recently despite an injury during spring training that slowed him down initially. He had only six homers by April but then exploded with 14 in May and another impressive count in June.
Fans probably think it’s thrilling to watch Judge chase another home run record this season!
Another factor helping him is Juan Soto batting behind him, making pitchers more cautious around Judge.
Impact on Yankees:
Judge’s performance has boosted the Yankees too. They are just behind the Orioles in the AL East and are on pace for over 100 wins this season.
What do you think? Will Judge break his own record again?
