Aaron Judge is on fire, crushing his sixth homer in just seven games this season as the Yankees star continues to make history.
The reigning American League MVP blasted a 403-foot shot to center field in the seventh inning Friday, connecting on the first pitch from Pirates reliever Tim Mayza.
Judge now has more home runs this season than 10 entire MLB teams combined.
But the real story? He just tied Babe Ruth.
With that homer, Judge now has 321 career home runs in his first 1,000 games as a Yankee, matching the legendary Ruth for the most in franchise history through that many games.
That puts him well ahead of other Yankee legends like Alex Rodriguez (259), Joe DiMaggio (224), Mickey Mantle (218), and Lou Gehrig (212).
Pretty amazing company.
Ruth’s 1,000-game stretch ran from 1920 — shortly after the infamous trade from the Red Sox that changed baseball history — through part of 1927, when he hit his record-setting 60 homers. Judge has spent his entire career in pinstripes since breaking into the majors in 2016.
The Yankees beat the Pirates 5-2 in the Bronx, with Judge finishing 1 for 5 with a walk.
He’s been absolutely crushing it this season, hitting .379 with a ridiculous 1.103 slugging percentage.
The win puts the Yankees at 5-2 for the year, good enough for first place in the AL East.
