The Yankees traded for Juan Soto this offseason, but he might leave after just one year.
During a 10-3 win over the Rockies, fans chanted, “Re-sign Soto!” hoping to keep him longer. When asked about it, Soto said it’s up to the Yankees’ front office.
“I don’t know,” he said. “They have to talk to Cashman.”
Aaron Judge supports the fans and Soto. He believes they have every right to be excited about such an incredible player.
Fans Want More of Soto
Judge mentioned that it’s ultimately up to Soto and his family’s decision. Fans can only chant and hope for the best outcome.
Soto is having an amazing season with a .299 batting average, 37 homers, and 95 RBIs in 127 games. His stats are at career highs in many areas.
Yet, winning MVP seems tough for him as he’s behind Judge and competing with Bobby Witt Jr.
Yankees are aiming for their first AL pennant since 2009, with Soto’s World Series experience being a big plus.
For free agency, Soto and his agent Scott Boras will look for the best deal. It could be from the Yankees or other big teams like Mets or Dodgers who can afford him but may not want to spend that much.
Fans feel hopeful but anxious about what will happen next. What do you think?
