Jose Altuve Removes Shoe & Sock to Prove Point

Houston Astros’ second baseman Jose Altuve got ejected in the ninth inning of Tuesday’s game against the San Diego Padres.

He took off his cleat and sock to show umpire Brennan Miller that a ball, which was ruled fair and led to a ground out, had actually hit his foot. Altuve wanted to prove it was a foul ball.

Miller wasn’t having it and kicked Altuve out of the game . This was Altuve’s second ejection this season and third in his career.

The Astros’ broadcast showed a slow-motion replay proving the ball did hit Altuve’s foot. He said after the game, “It was a foul ball. It was obvious. I just wanted my at-bat against Suarez.”

Game Outcome:

Despite all this drama, the Astros won 4-3 in extra innings thanks to Kyle Tucker’s clutch single against Adrian Morejon. Fans might think this win shows how resilient their team is.

Manager Joe Espada backed up Altuve, saying umpires missed the call twice this year: “You have to see what happens when it hits the foot.” He added he respects umpires but believes they should have seen it.

The Astros now hold an 82-69 record with a five-game lead in their division.
