Baltimore Orioles’ second baseman Jackson Holliday made history on Wednesday night.
He became the youngest player in American League history to hit home runs in three straight games at 20 years and 247 days old. Holliday’s two-run homer off Ryan Burr gave the Orioles a late lead, contributing to their 7-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Holliday’s feat also tied him for fourth-most home runs by an Orioles player in their first 17 games. Only Trey Mancini, Curt Blefary, and Nolan Reimold have more. Here’s a tweet from TSN’s StatsCentre showing the complete list: https://twitter.com/StatsCentre/status/1821369966395805947
Despite this achievement, Holliday has had a bumpy season. He debuted in April but struggled with a 2-for-34 stretch that sent him back to the minors. After recovering from injuries, he returned on July 31 and has since been on fire, hitting .375/.444/.917 with four homers and a double in seven games. His current big-league stats are .190/.254/.414 (89 OPS+), but fans believe these numbers will improve as the season continues.
Prospect Ranking:
Entering this year, CBS Sports ranked Holliday as the top prospect in baseball. They wrote: “He has every tool and intangible necessary to become a star, even if he might require some time to upscale his power from the ‘gap’ to the ‘over-the-fence’ variety.” It seems like he’s taken that advice seriously lately.
Fans are probably thrilled about his recent performance and hopeful for what’s next.
What do you think? Will Holliday keep up this hot streak?
