Major League Baseball shared the reserves for the 2024 All-Star Game on Sunday.
For the first time ever, Logan Gilbert from the Seattle Mariners made it to the American League team for next week’s game in Texas.
After hearing this from his manager, Scott Servais, Gilbert called his parents to share the big news.
“Just calling, seeing what you guys are doing next week…” @logangilbert22 telling his parents he’s an All-Star is the best thing you’ll see all day https://t.co/PDY1mIaiOS — Seattle Mariners (@Mariners) July 8, 2024
He started by asking them what they were up to on Sunday afternoon.
His mom replied, “Just swimming in the backyard. Dad’s having a little strawberry daiquiri over there … I gotta keep my eye on him.”
Then Gilbert said, “I was just calling to see what you guys are doing next week… if you guys aren’t busy, I know you just came to see me, but I’m going to Texas next week for the All-Star Game, and I wanted to see if you guys wanted to meet me out there.”
Family’s Joyful Reaction:
When they heard this exciting news, his parents were overjoyed. His mom added with tears in her eyes, “Yes, of course we would love to! Logan. that is so awesome. You are going to make me cry. That is so cool. One of your dreams come true!”
Fans might think this moment was really touching and heartfelt.
Gilbert has had a solid season with a 5-5 record and a team-best 2.91 ERA plus 108 strikeouts in 117 2/3 innings. He’s currently Seattle’s only player heading to the Midsummer Classic on July 16.
