Veteran Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw had to leave the game early on Friday due to a bone spur in his left big toe.
Kershaw’s night ended after just 27 pitches in a thrilling 10-9 win against the Diamondbacks. He gave up three runs in one inning and tried to continue but left after Corbin Carroll hit a home run.
“It’s obviously not good,” said Dave Roberts. “There’s swelling, pain, and he’s doing everything he can. Some starts it feels fine, but today it was bad. He had nothing, no legs today .”
Dodgers’ Pitching Woes:
Fans might worry about Kershaw needing time on the injured list again. The 36-year-old has faced many injuries lately and didn’t start this season until July 25 due to shoulder surgery. His stats show a 4.50 ERA over 30 innings and seven starts.
The Dodgers’ rotation has been hit hard by injuries this year, with six pitchers currently on the IL, including Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow.
As of Saturday’s game against Arizona, the Dodgers hold an 81-54 record and lead the National League West by five games over the D-backs.
What do you think? Can they keep their lead despite these setbacks?
