deGrom Returns to MLB Against Mariners

The Texas Rangers are bringing Jacob deGrom back to pitch on Friday against the Seattle Mariners.

After tearing his ulnar collateral ligament last season, deGrom had his second Tommy John surgery. Even though the Rangers are six games behind in the playoff race, deGrom insisted on returning this month rather than waiting until next year.

“I felt good throughout rehab and had no setbacks,” deGrom said recently. “Getting out there now will give me peace of mind and make my offseason feel normal again.”

deGrom’s Comeback:

Jacob deGrom is a standout pitcher in MLB, having won two Cy Young Awards and being named an All-Star four times. He signed a five-year deal with the Rangers worth $185 million before the 2023 season. In his six starts before getting injured, he had a 161 ERA+ and an impressive strikeout-to-walk ratio of 11.25.

Fans might think it’s exciting to see him back on the mound so soon.

But wait, there’s more! Kumar Rocker, another notable player for the Rangers, is also set to debut this season by starting Thursday night’s game against the Mariners.

What do you think about deGrom’s return?
