In the fourth inning, Chourio smashed his first career grand slam off a Jameson Taillon sweeper. This powerful hit was part of Milwaukee’s 4-2 victory over the Cubs.

That homer marked Chourio’s ninth of the season and his MLB career. The ball left his bat at 98.4 mph and flew 377 feet into left field. Interestingly, this was the Brewers’ third grand slam in just four games ! Jake Bauers had one on Wednesday against the Rangers, and Rhys Hoskins started it all with a grand slam on Monday also against Texas. Altogether, it’s Milwaukee’s fifth grand slam this season.
Chourio’s Stats and Background
Despite being only 20 years old, Chourio has shown impressive skills this season with a slash line of .241/.286/.390. Some might think these numbers are low, but remember he’s much younger than most other players in MLB.
He had only played six games above Double-A before this year, so his promotion to the big leagues was quite aggressive. The Brewers believed in him so much that they signed him to an eight-year, $82 million extension before he even played a single game in MLB—a huge risk for such a small market team!
