Last month, Walker Buehler had his watch stolen, and the police are still looking into it.
While visiting Santa Anita Park with his wife, a group approached them, and during this encounter on the weekend of September 28-29, someone cleverly took Buehler’s pricey watch without him even noticing. Fortunately, no one got hurt and nothing else was taken.
Here’s what Excel Sports Management said about the incident: “Following Walker’s final regular season start on September 27th, he and a number of other players did not travel to Colorado for the final regular season series. That weekend, Walker and his wife McKenzie were attending horse races at Santa Anita Park. While walking from the paddock to their seats, Walker was unknowingly the victim of a snatch-and-grab robbery of his watch. The incident was reported to police and is currently under investigation. We are grateful Walker and McKenzie were not harmed and Walker is focused on the playoffs.”
Game Day Plans:
Buehler is gearing up to pitch against the San Diego Padres in Game 3 of the National League Divisional Series on Tuesday.
Hailing from Lexington, Kentucky , Buehler has always loved horse racing. His friendship with Bob Baffert began when Baffert threw out a first pitch at Dodger Stadium years ago. “I kind of ran up and said, ‘Hey, I never met you guys, but I’m from Lexington and a big fan of you,'” he shared in July 2023 with BloodHorse. Not long after that meeting, they spent time together at Santa Anita early in the morning until noon before heading to games. Their bond grew stronger during COVID times when Buehler stayed at Baffert’s guest house for two weeks.
Fans might think it’s cool that Baffert convinced him to buy part of a horse named Authentic that later won the Kentucky Derby in 2020.
As an upcoming free agent who played in 16 matches for Dodgers this season with an ERA of 5.38 (72 ERA+) alongside a strikeout-to-walk ratio standing at 2.29—what do you think lies ahead for him?
