BrewerChourio Youngest to 20-20

The race for National League Rookie of the Year is led by Jackson Merrill and Paul Skenes, with several others in the mix.

On Thursday night, Jackson Chourio made history with a home run in San Francisco.

Chourio’s Impact:

The Brewers won 3-0, improving to an 84-62 record. They lead the NL Central by nine games, thanks largely to Chourio.

Chourio hit his 20th homer of the season and also has 20 stolen bases. At just 20 years and 185 days old, he became the youngest player ever to achieve this feat.

Fans are surely excited about this young talent.

Before this season started, the Brewers wisely signed Chourio to an eight-year contract extension worth $82 million, with options for 2032 and 2033. Despite starting slow, he adapted quickly when Christian Yelich got injured.

His performance improved dramatically in the second half of the season:

1st half: .243/.294/.384, 12 doubles, no triples, nine homers, 35 RBIs, 41 runs scored, ten stolen bases in 85 games.
2nd half: .314/.371/.585, fourteen doubles, two triples eleven homers thirty-six RBIs thirty runs scored ten stolen bases in forty-seven games.

The Brewers are on track for their fourth NL Central title in seven seasons. This success is partly due to a kid who was only fourteen when this journey began. Isn’t that amazing?
