The Atlanta Braves faced a tough loss against the Philadelphia Phillies, ending with a score of 3-0 on Saturday night.
Despite the defeat, Braves fans witnessed an unforgettable moment thanks to Michael Harris II’s incredible catch in center field.
During the seventh inning, Atlanta was down 2-0 when Austin Hays hit a powerful shot to center. Harris sprinted back, jumped at the wall, and made an astonishing home-run-saving catch that nearly took him into the bullpen.

Braves manager Brian Snitker praised Harris by saying, “You probably saw the catch of the year right there. That’s what I told [Harris]. I said, ‘We’ll be watching that one for the next 24 hours.'”
Fans might think this is one of those moments that make baseball magical.
Though calling it “catch of the year” is subjective, it’s worth noting that MLB has seen some fantastic catches recently. Travis Jankowski also made headlines with his game-saving home-run robbery earlier this week.
Harris himself said it was his best catch ever. He added, “I’ve had some in past years I wanted to bring back but couldn’t. So it was good to make that one and [move it] to the top of my board.”
Offensively, Harris hasn’t been at his best this season with a .245/.290/.362 batting line. However, he’s always been a defensive star . Statcast ranks him in the 90th percentile for Outs Above Average and Baseball-Reference credits him with 13 Defensive Runs Saved since he debuted.
The Braves head into Sunday’s series finale against Philadelphia trailing by six games in their division but holding onto a two-game lead over the Mets for a wild-card spot. They still have three crucial games left against New York during the final week of the season.
