Braves Ace Max Fried on IL with Forearm Issue

Max Fried is on the injured list due to left forearm neuritis.

The Braves announced this Sunday morning, and in response, they called up Dylan Dodd from the minors. Fried has had a solid season with a 7-5 record, a 3.08 ERA, and 95 strikeouts over 108 innings. He even pitched an inning in the All-Star game last Tuesday.

Forearm neuritis isn’t common; it’s a nerve issue rather than ligament or muscle damage. It happens when the ulnar nerve gets irritated or squished, leading to numbness, tingling, pain , and sometimes a weak grip.

Fried was second in Cy Young voting in 2022 but has faced multiple injuries since then. He’s set to become a free agent after this season.

Braves’ Current Standings:

The Braves are currently leading the National League Wild Card with a 54-43 record. However, they’ve not matched their regular-season success from previous years due to injuries to key players like Ronald Acuña Jr., who tore his ACL in 2023, and Spencer Strider needing Tommy John surgery.

With Strider out, Fried was expected to step up. Now that he’s also injured, the team will rely more on Chris Sale and Reynaldo López. They’ll also need strong performances from Dylan Dodd, Charlie Morton, and Spencer Schwellenbach.

Fans might wonder if these injuries will affect their playoff chances .

What do you think about all these injuries?
