Mike Trout’s power surge continues despite batting struggles
Angels star Mike Trout might only be hitting .189 this season, but he’s finally healthy after missing significant time over the past five years. His power numbers are making up for his contact issues in a big way.
Trout crushed two homers Saturday against the Giants, bringing his season total to eight. That ties him for second in MLB, trailing only Tyler Soderstrom who has nine.
The Angels are back in action Sunday with Trout listed at +350 to go deep again.
Meanwhile, Soderstrom sits at +420 to hit one against the Brewers and become the first player to reach double-digit homers this season.
Looking for value in today’s MLB home run props? A computer model that’s been crushing these picks lately has identified three promising options.
The model has been on fire, going 34-19 on top-rated MLB run line picks since 2023. It’s been even better with home run props, hitting nine in the last 12 days and turning a profit of 21.65 units during that stretch.
Recent winners include Shohei Ohtani (+290), Bobby Witt (+340), Tyler Soderstrom (+370), Matt Mervis (+525), Junior Caminero (+520), and Francisco Lindor (+500).
Today’s three-pick parlay offers massive +20140 odds – a $5 bet would pay out $1,012 at DraftKings.
## Elly De La Cruz (+700)
The 23-year-old Reds shortstop is one of baseball’s most exciting young talents. He hit 25 homers and stole 67 bases during his All-Star campaign last year.
He’s off to another strong start in 2025 with four homers and six stolen bases in Cincinnati’s first 21 games.
De La Cruz homered Friday in Baltimore, and he’ll face struggling Orioles starter Charlie Morton on Sunday. Morton has been awful so far, posting an 8.84 ERA while giving up four homers in his first four starts.
DraftKings has the best price on De La Cruz to go deep at Camden Yards.
## Mickey Moniak (+440)
Moniak hit 14 homers in each of the past two seasons as a part-time player with the Angels. Now he’s got an everyday role in Colorado, and Coors Field is working its magic.
The former first-round pick has homered in back-to-back games and has three total with a .952 OPS through 17 games.
On Sunday, he’ll face Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin in the first game of a doubleheader. This matchup heavily favors Moniak, who hits from the left side and has crushed righties throughout his career – 32 of his 35 career homers have come against right-handed pitching.
FanDuel offers the best price, but we’re using the +340 odds at DraftKings for this parlay. This pick is specifically for the 3:10 p.m. ET game.
## Fernando Tatis Jr. (+475)
Tatis has been a home run machine to start his career, blasting 134 in just 536 games. His seven homers this season lead the National League.
He’s been on an absolute tear lately, with six of those seven homers coming in his last 10 games, including one Saturday night in Houston.
Sunday’s matchup against lefty Framber Valdez looks promising despite Valdez’s reputation as a ground-ball pitcher. Valdez enters with a 4.91 ERA, and Tatis has always crushed left-handed pitching with a career .900 OPS against southpaws.
Tatis also sports a .576 slugging percentage in interleague games. Both BetMGM and DraftKings have him priced at +475.
