Tyler Soderstrom is on fire, hitting MLB-leading ninth homer in A’s win

Athletics first baseman Tyler Soderstrom can’t stop hitting home runs right now. He smashed his MLB-leading ninth homer Thursday as the A’s cruised to an 8-0 win over the White Sox.

Soderstrom is batting a red-hot .315 with 18 RBIs this season.

The A’s have been rolling lately too, winning four of their last five games.

But Soderstrom faces a tough test Friday against Brewers starter Freddy Peralta, who’s been nearly unhittable with a 2.31 ERA and 28 strikeouts in just four starts this season.

If you’re thinking about betting on Soderstrom to go yard again, BetMGM has him at +450 odds. His teammates Brent Rooker (+375) and Shea Langeliers (+390) actually have better odds of hitting one out.

Other big names with short home run odds include Yankees slugger Aaron Judge at +230 and Phillies star Kyle Schwarber at +300.

Looking for some value in today’s MLB home run props? SportsLine’s computer model might help you find it.

This model has been crushing it lately, going 34-19 on top-rated MLB run line picks since 2023. It’s been even hotter with home run picks, hitting on eight of the last ten days.

Just this week, it correctly predicted homers from Shohei Ohtani (+290), Bobby Witt (+340), Soderstrom (+370), Matt Mervis (+525), and Junior Caminero (+520).

The model has identified three home run picks for Friday that could pay out big. If you parlay all three at FanDuel, you’d get +21476 odds – turning a $5 bet into $1,073.80!

Francisco Lindor (+500)

Lindor has only hit one homer this season, but don’t let that fool you. He’s crushed at least 30 home runs in each of the last two years.

The Mets shortstop looked great at the plate Thursday, going 3-for-4 with an RBI against St. Louis to bump his average up to .268.

He’s facing Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas, who’s been terrible this year with an 0-2 record and bloated 9.00 ERA in three starts.

Even better? Lindor has owned Mikolas throughout his career, hitting .412 (7-for-17) against him.

"While he hasn’t homered off Mikolas yet, the solid contact rate suggests the potential is there," said SportsLine Data Scientist Jacob Fetner. "We priced this prop at +450, so the +500 on FanDuel offers strong value, especially compared to Caesars, where it’s as low as +375."

Yandy Diaz (+480)

The 33-year-old Diaz is seeing the ball well lately, homering on Sunday and Monday before adding hits on Tuesday and Wednesday.

He’s facing Yankees lefty Carlos Rodon, who’s struggled to a 1-3 record with a 5.48 ERA while giving up five homers already this season.

Diaz has absolutely crushed left-handed pitching this year with a .993 OPS (compared to just .520 against righties).

All three of his homers have come at George M. Steinbrenner Field, Tampa Bay’s temporary home.

"Given that right-handed hitters slugged significantly better against Rodón last season—and accounted for 28 of the 31 home runs he gave up—Díaz is in a good spot," Fetner explained. "We value this prop at +430, so the +480 price tag on FanDuel is solid."

Isaac Paredes (+520)

Paredes has been one of Houston’s most consistent hitters with 16 hits this season, tied for the team lead with 3 homers.

He was on a tear last weekend, homering in three straight home games before going quiet during a three-game road series in St. Louis.

Now he’s back home facing Padres starter Kyle Hart, who’s been shaky with seven earned runs in less than 12 innings this season.

Hart has been especially bad on the road, giving up five earned runs while recording just two outs in his only road start against the Cubs.

"The model takes Hart’s road struggles into account, and with Paredes back at home, we like this matchup for the Astros’ 3B. We have this line set at +470," Fetner said.

FanDuel is offering the best price for a Paredes homer at +520.
