Next year, the Houston Astros’ stadium will have a new name.
Since 2002, fans have known it as Minute Maid Park, but starting in 2025, it will be called Daikin Park. This change comes after a deal with Daikin, a huge air conditioning company from Osaka, Japan. They are big in Houston too, with over 10,000 employees there. The Astros shared that Daikin has invested more than $1 billion in the area and started a project to help people get better air conditioning and heating systems at home.
The naming rights agreement is set to last until 2039. “We are thrilled to join hands with Daikin for our ballpark’s new name,” said Jim Crane. He mentioned how both the Astros and Daikin care about excellence and giving back to the community . As the ballpark turns 25 years old in 2025, he looks forward to creating more memories with fans.

When it first opened in 2000, the stadium was called Enron Field. But after some trouble, they had to rename it temporarily as Astros Field while looking for another sponsor. Minute Maid then stepped up with a big deal worth $100 million over 30 years.
Although Minute Maid planned to stay until at least 2030, they’re stepping back from being the main sponsor but will still support the team somehow. Now enters Daikin as the new partner! Fans might wonder if this change will bring any luck or charm like before when Albert Pujols hit that unforgettable postseason home run against Brad Lidge in 2005—though ultimately not enough to stop Houston from winning their first National League pennant!
The ballpark has seen many ups and downs since its days under Minute Maid’s banner: once struggling through empty seats during tough seasons but later becoming an American League powerhouse by clinching four pennants within six years—including two World Series victories—and making seven consecutive ALCS appearances! They’ve also claimed seven AL West titles despite only joining that league twelve seasons ago.
Takayuki “Taka” Inoue of Daikin expressed excitement about working together with such an iconic team like this one representing resilience amid challenges while celebrating shared love towards hometown communities throughout Greater Houston region—a sentiment echoed among loyal supporters everywhere who cherish these connections deeply rooted within local culture itself!
Fans might think it’s strange at first hearing “Daikin Park,” but they’ll get used to it soon enough! What do you think about this new chapter for our beloved stadium?
