The Los Angeles Angels are known for quickly promoting their top draft picks to the majors.
On Saturday night, second baseman Christian Moore made his Double-A debut, going 2 for 4 with a home run just 20 days after being picked No. 8 overall.
Check it out:
Moore is only 21 and played in just two High-A games before moving up. He went 6 for 11 with two doubles, a home run, and a walk. That was enough to convince Minasian and his team to promote him.
Fast Promotions:
The Angels have been quick to advance their draftees. For instance, Zach Neto (13th pick in 2022) and Nolan Schanuel (11th pick in 2023) both moved up fast. Neto played only 48 minor-league games before reaching the majors, while Schanuel took just 22 games.
Interestingly, Moore’s promotion pace is even faster than theirs: he needed only two games before debuting in Double-A. Fans might wonder if he could make it to the majors this season given the Angels’ history of rapid promotions .
Before the draft, CBS Sports ranked Moore as the 21st best prospect. They noted that teams would overlook defensive issues if his bat performed well: “Teams will live with suboptimal defensive outcomes… if the bat delivers; Moore’s seems like it has a solid chance to do just that.”
